If you can’t hear the volume
coming from the speaker on your TomTom sat nav xl, then you will need to turn
it up to an audible listening level. Most of the time the speaker is not faulty
and you might have accidently turned down the volume by running your fingers
over the screen while it was powered on. This happened when I was cleaning the
screen on my own sat nav from the kids smutches all over it Don’t worry we will
tell you how to get the volume back on your TomTom sat nav. Let’s start with the
very basics first.
1) Power on your sat nav.
2) Let the maps load up onscreen.
3) Tap the bottom bar on the screen that shows the information
of the maps and destination.
4) You will see a volume slider appear on screen. To increase
the volume louder on your TomTom sat nav xl, move the slider towards the right.
Moving it towards the left will reduce the volume from the speaker.
If that doesn’t see to work, then a soft reset may do the
trick. Sometimes what can happen is the software can become corrupted or glitchy.
1) Ensure that your sat nav is powered on.
2) Look around the sides, you will see a small reset button.
3) To reset the device back to factory settings, simply get a
small pointed object and push it into the reset hole.
4) Hold it down in this position for 10 seconds and let go.
5) The sat nav will restart and you will hear the drums roll,
the common start up intro. Once you hear this you know that the sound functionality
has come back.
If none of the above work, then you may need to check the wires on the speaker are firmly connected or test another speaker to see if the internal one is faulty.
