Many IEM headphones come supplied with many different types of rubber tips to suit all different kinds of ear canals. When you insert IEM headphones into your ears, the rubber tips create a seal between the headphone driver and your ear canal. This helps increase the bass response and block out any unwanted noise. Overtime, the rubber earbud tips can become greasy and full of ear wax. This can make them feel sticky and smell bad. You can remove them and clean them to remove all kinds of dirt and make them look brand new once again.
1) Remove both rubber earbud tips from both headphone drivers. Obtain a headphone driver, twist the rubber earbud and pull it off. Remember be careful when removing them, too much force can tear the rubber material. Do the same procedure for the other renaming headphone driver.
2) Pour a reasonable amount of rubbing alcohol into a small glass. Rubbing alcohol works wonders when it comes to cleaning ear wax on earphones because it has the ability to break it down.
3) Place the rubber earbuds into the small glass of rubbing alcohol cleaning solution for 10 minutes.
4) Remove both rubber earbuds from the small glass. Then use a tissue paper, dry them thoroughly inside and out. Ensure that no cleaning solution is dripping off them because it can get into the headphone driver and damage it.
5) Replace both rubber earbuds back onto their headphone drivers. Line up the rubber earbud with the outer plastic, push it forcefully down until it slips in place. Also do the same procedure for the other renaming headphone driver.
