If you own a Garmin nuvi gps sat nav and it won't turn on or charge after an update, chances are that the firmware that runs as an operating system is locked up. This can happen if you pull out the usb cord to quickly from your PC or MAC, since it corrupts some files and data on the internal memory. If that is the case, you can try to hard reset it to restore it back to factory settings to retrieve the software. If that doesn't work it could possibly be a faulty charger cord or battery pack.
1) You will need to find the reset hole on your Garmin sat nav. Usually you can find it on the bottom or top on the sides of the device left to right or bottom to top.
2) Get a small thin item like a needle or something such as the end of a pen.
3) Push down the end bit of the object into the reset hole and hold it down for at least 6 seconds.
4) Then hold down the power button for 10 seconds to see if it can retrieve any power.
