How To Correctly Clean a Soldering Iron Tip

If the tip on a soldering iron is not regularly cleaned, the soldering iron will not perform at it's best. Cleaning the tip of a soldering iron is ideal to make the soldering iron heat up solder correctly and quickly.

Instruction on how to clean a soldering iron tip:

1)Turn on the soldering iron and allow it the tip of the soldering iron to heat up, this should take no more then 5 minutes.

2)Once the tip is heated up, put on leather gloves onto both hands, this is to prevent the skin on your hand from getting burned.

3)Using a damp sponge, wipe of the black substance off the soldering iron's tip.

4)Once you have cleaned the soldering iron, turn it off and allow it to cool down.
