If you are selling or lending your TomTom car nav to a friend, you might want to keep your personal address and the recent destinations you have been, kept to yourself. Also if you TomTom car sat nav gets stolen by chance, they thieve can obtain your address, this is not good. Data such as stored postcodes and address don't get automatically erased off the TomTom's memory. If your erase your personal data you want to delete off the TomTom sat nav, it will also start up and shut down faster.
So to remove your data of the TomTom sat nav, all of them come with a reset feature, it is located underneath the TomTom were the usb mini cable socket is located. When you press the reset button in, the TomTom will be reset to factory settings, as well as erasing the data off its on board memory. The reset button is placed in a location, which makes it difficult to press it in with your finger. So you will need to find a pin or a needle, this is so you can push it in the little hole and press in the reset button.
This is why I always take my old dads advice: Neither a lender nor borrower be ! :]
ReplyDeleteIf i delete my recent destinations via the menu can they still be extracted? If so, how far back?
