If your dreamcast console asks you to manually input the date and time settings each time you restart your console, the internal battery is dead. The CMOS battery inside allows the memory inside the console to store the correct date and time settings. This battery is nothing special or hard to get hold of after all its just a regular 3 volts coin watch battery.
1) Turn the console upside down and remove all four screws in each corner.
2) Flip it the other way round and lift off the top section.
3) You will see two wires soldered onto the battery near the controller port board.
4) Get your soldering iron and quickly heat up the solder joints on the current wires to release them from the old battery.
5) Re solder the wires in correct polarity onto the new battery.
