How To Fix a TomTom That Has Lost Its Maps, If You Have Deleted The Maps Accidentally


A TomTom has maps stored internally on it's on board hard drive, or on a additional sd memory card that is supplied with the unit. Mistakes happen in life and you might have accidentally deleted the maps, or they might have become corrupted, either way, the TomTom is useless. But don't worry if the maps are lost on your TomTom, just follow the guide provided below, you will get them back onto the device in no time!

Instructions:

1)Using a mini usb cable, connect your TomTom unit to your computer. This is by inserting the mini usb end into the TomTom and the usb plug into a spare usb port. When your TomTom has an active connection with your computer, a small computer icon appears in the "Driving View" in the tab of the TomTom. TomTom will then search from the internet, for a new map download.

2)Log into your TomTom account on the device.

3)Then select the option "Get Items".

4)Press the box next to the new map, this is to un check it if a new navigator download appears.The navigator should be downloaded before installing the new map.
5)Select "Start Downloading" to download the navigator update. This process make take around 5 minutes, the speed depends on how fast your internet connection is. Once the download is completed, you will return to the download page, the TomTom unit may power itself off, to save battery power, during the download.

6)Press the box next to the map and make sure it is checked. 

6)Select "Start Downloading" to download a fresh map. When the new map has been downloaded, it will automatically install onto the TomTom.
