How To Connect Your Phone To Car Amp Directly For Sound

A car amplifier can be used to provide more power to your speaker or subwoofer setup. The role of this audio hardware is to increase the signal to an amplified level. If you have wired your car amplifier inside your house directly to a wall plug outlet using a 12 volt adapter or computer power supply, you will need to feed a source of music into it. Since you don't have a car headunit, you have the options to connect anything to it that uses a 3.5mm jack. This can be anything from using your smartphone phone, mp3 player or ipod.

1) Purchase a lead that has a 3.5mm jack plug on one end and two RCA connectors on the other.

2) Connect the 3.5mm plug into your music source.

3) Connect the RCA connectors according to the colours into the 'Input' of the amp.

4) Turn on the car amplifier and your music device. You control the volume from it directly and you can adjust equalizer settings in your media player to achieve the best sound possible from your indoor audio installation.

5) Ensure that you set the gain properly to prevent clipping or distortion at loud volume levels.
