There are many people that are tricked into buying a mobile phone because of the seller sold it to them for a cheap price. If a mobile phone is going cheap, cheaper than the price in a shop, then there is a 10% chance it has been blocked, also known as barred or blacklisted. When a mobile phone is stolen, the owner will report it to the network provider; this is by providing the imei number of the stolen mobile phone to the customer service department. Then the network provider will place a bar on the stolen mobile phone, this will make the phone worthless because you can't make calls, browse the internet and make texts, so basically using an active sim card in that phone is useless.
There are many people that have purchased a blocked cell phone and there are people who haven't. For those people who haven't, some great prevention tips are below to help your check if the phone is barred for network providers:
1)Bring a sim card will sufficient credit balance. Insert it into the mobile phone you are going to buy, make either a call or text. If the call or message is received on the other end the phone is passed the test and is not blocked. If not, then the phone is barred!
2)If it is a Nokia mobile phone and it says 'Sim card registration failed' message, there is a chance it could be blocked or may need repairing.
3)If the mobile phone displays no signal on the network signal strength meter. If this happens, first search for the phone mast manually, in case the phone finds it hard to connect to it. If it fails to connect to the phone mast, the phone is been blacklisted.
