I own a Sony PlayStation 2 console, i woke up this morning ready to play some old school Grand Theft Auto Vice City and it said a message 'disc read error' on screen. So I ejected the game and looked on the shiny surface its not scratched or dirty in anyway. Whats wrong with my PS2? How can i fix this problem and why is my Ps2 not reading discs.
This problem seems to be caused most of the time by a dirty or dusty laser lens. This is a component that is placed inside the drive to read data from the inserted disc. If this becomes dirty, it will make the lens struggle to focus and will bring up errors. This is more common on the older style fat consoles and it is easier to clean on the newer slimline ones.
