Heat shrink is possibly the best method that can be used to cover up exposed wires in the audio world. Its far more better than using electrical insulation tape and lasts longer. The only problem is that once the tubing has shrinked with the heat, its hard for it to come off just like that. Here is one way you can remove heat shrink tubing from your wires that always works for me.
1) Attach a fresh cutting blade to your holder.
2) Slowly slit through the tubing from bottom to top like a jacket.
3) Push off the tubing from the wire and throw it away into nearest bin.
