How To Fix PSP Battery Lid Cover Thats Loose & Creaking

The Sony PSP console obtains power from the inserted battery pack to power on and become functional to use. A battery lid is placed on top of the battery pack to protect it from getting damaged from everyday use or falling out when using the console. If you have had your PSP console for a long time or you have bought it second hand, sometimes the battery lid becomes loose and wobbly. This problem usually occurs because of the battery lid fitment has worn out on the console, causing the battery lid to move slightly. This problem is not going to cause you any problems with you gaming on your PSP console, but if its fixable, its worth attempting to permanently eliminate the looseness with a slight modification.

1) Power off your PSP console by flicking the 'Power Switch' upwards and holding it in that position for 5 seconds. Then turn your PSP console upside down, so the screen and buttons are facing downwards because you will need to remove the battery cover.

2) Remove the battery lid from the console, by pressing the 'Release' button found near the battery compartment. Pressing this button will unlock the mechanism that holds the battery lid in place, so you can then remove it from the console.

3) Once you have removed the battery lid, obtain a roll of 'Double Side Sticky-tape' and a pair of 'Scissors'. You will require that particular tape because you are going to use it to secure the battery lid onto the battery pack, to prevent it from moving.

4) Now using your 'Scissors', cut a small sized square piece from the roll. Then peel of the protective paper on both sides to reveal the sickness of the tape. Then carefully place the tape on the back of the battery lid in the middle.

5) Then reinserted the battery lid back onto the console, covering up the battery pack. Then use your finger to firmly press down the middle section of the lid to ensure that the tape sticks onto the battery pack. Now that you are finished, the battery lid can't move because the tape is holding it down firmly in place.
