How To Replace Batteries In a Xbox 360 Wireless Game Controller

The Xbox 360 controller obtains its power from 2 AA sized batteries. The batteries are fitted into the battery holder cover, which attaches onto the back of the game controller. If you are a serious gamer, you will notice the batteries will die really fast. Once the batteries are dead, the only way your controller is going to work again, is by replacing them with new ones. If you prefer not to replace them every so often, you should consider yourself buying a rechargeable battery pack kit. With using these, there is no need to change or replace the batteries, just plug them in and charge them up.

1) Turn around the controller and look at the middle area. You will see the battery holder. Inside it are 2 AA sized batteries that will be fitted. What you need to do is remove it. This is so you can have access to remove the current batteries.

2) Look at the top of battery cover on the controller. You will see a small sized 'Button'. Press down this button to release the battery holder from the gamepad.

3) With the battery side facing downwards, tap the battery holder a few times onto the palm of your hand to remove them.

4) Look at the sticker placed on the inside of the battery cover. Follow the directions and insert the new AA batteries the correct way round. If you insert them with reversed polarity, the controller will not power on, so get it right the first time.

5) Line up the battery holder with the back of the controller and push it into place. You will hear a 'Click' sound once it is locked in. Press the guide button on the Xbox controller to switch it on and connect it directly to your console.
