A soldering iron is a handy tool to have around your workshop if you ever need to solder to repair any faulty electronic devices. This device works by a heating element that warms up to a certain hot temperature that melts the solder wire onto the circuit board. If you are in a hurry because you want to change over the metal tips, you can cool down your soldering iron with water straightway.
1) Unplug the soldering iron from the mains wall socket and switch it off.
2) Fill a cup with cold water.
3) Using the plastic handle, place the soldering iron tip into the glass. During this process you may notice pressurized noises. This is normal and doesn't affect the performance of the tool.
4) Please allow the water to dry out from the metal tip to prolong the lifespan of your soldering iron before the next use.
