Yes technically you can. You can create an MDF stealth shelf thats more stronger to hold the weight of large magnets of the speakers. You will benefit from the trunk space to not get used up like with using a sealed or ported box enclosure. When you close the trunk, all space inside it will kind of act like an enclosure for the subs. You can then run an external 2 channel or mono car amplifier to power them up. However, you won't gain the best of bass doing this and you will probably better of fitting a good pair of 6x9s. Since there will be the lack of rear fill in terms of vocals and treble, as there will just be bass frequencies heard, which will get boring very quickly.
