It is possible for you to either change or remove a car battery from your vehicle without losing the radio security code. If you have purchased the car from a previous owner and you don't have the radio security code, removing the car battery the normal way will lock the stereo. Once its done, there is no possible way to reverse this to unlock the CD player without original authorization. You will need to acquire the radio security code from the previous keeper or phone up the manufacturer to see if they can reset it. Quite frankly, there is a clever way that allows you to change your car battery without losing the radio code from its memory. Saving you all the hassle and time that is involved make your stereo work again.
1) Turn the car engine off and open the hood.
2) Look for the location of the car battery.
3) Connect a secondary power source. This can either be a jump starter pack or jump leads from another car running directly to the terminals in the engine bay. This will confuse the radio thinking that the power has never been disconnected.
4) Now that the vehicle has power from another source, you can now go ahead an remove the car battery from the vehicle itself by undoing the metal clamps.
5) Insert your brand new replacement car battery and clamp it down. Then disconnect your secondary power source from the vehicles engine.
