How To Make a Soldering Iron More Hotter

If you notice that your soldering iron is not hot enough to melt solder quickly, you may need to clean the end metal tip. If this tip is covered in gunk from previous jobs, it will cause the soldering iron to not perform well and can cause degradation in overall performance. Cleaning can take approximately 5 minutes to complete. If you still notice that you want your soldering iron to be more hotter, you will possibly need to upgrade to one with a higher wattage output rating.

1) Plug directly into main outlet and switch it on. Allow the device to heat up.

2) Rub a wire sponge onto the metal tip. This will scrub off all the excess solder and previous oxidation remains.

3) Next get a normal household wet sponge and wipe the metal end clean.

4) Run some solder onto the end of the area you have cleaned to ensure oxidation is minimized.
