How To Connect Dreamcast To Your PC Monitor Screen


If you acquire to connect your Dreamcast console to your PC monitor you will need to connect it via VGA. When Sega released the console, the video port on the back already had the ability to send VGA analog signals out. Also most games that are out there mention that they are compatible via VGA using a PC monitor on the box packaging where the game disc goes. You will need to purchase a VGA box that will convert it to the 15 pin connection that is required. Sega actually released this is an official purchasable accessory so no mod chips were needed to be installed to add this extra functionality. Currently this is the best way to obtain highest picture quality and is almost as good as proper HDMI. 

1) Connect the video connector from the VGA box into the back of the Dreamcast in the TV out port.

2) You will now need to connect a double ended VGA lead into the box. Connecting the other end into your desired PC monitor.

3) You can connect separate stereo speakers by plugging in the green 3.5mm jack into the headphone out on the box.

4) Ensure that your PC monitor is tuned into 'VGA' mode and power on your console.
