If you don't properly handle your Gamecube games or put them back into their DVD cases, the game discs are more likely to get scratched. When the shiny surface of the disc is scratched, the laser lens inside the disc drive will have problems reading the data from it. This will result in the game disc not loading and a disk rear error to appear onscreen. If the scratches are light enough to see, you can buff them off using some toothpaste at home. If the scratches are too deep, that you can feel them with your finger if you go over them, the disc is beyond repair.
1) Press the 'Eject' button to open the lid and remove the scratched game disc that you want to repair.
2) Turn the disc 'Upside-Down'. So that the label side is facing downwards and the shiny side if facing you.
3) Get hold of a tube of 'Toothpaste' from the bathroom. Place a few tabs of the toothpaste around the shiny surface of the disc.
4) Then obtain a 'Microfiber Cloth' and rapidly rub in the toothpaste upwards and downwards. Stop cleaning the disc when the toothpaste is no longer visible and that scratches are removed.
