A car alarm is a great feature to get installed to your vehicles security system. Not only does it provide you with an extra level of security, it also helps bring down your insurance premium. Most car alarms are pre-tuned from the factory to a correct setting. Sometimes a car alarm can be too sensitive and go off for no major apparent reason such as the wind going by. This can be annoying because you have to attend your car every time this happens and make trips back and forth. Most car alarms that are fitted can be adjusted down a little to be less sensitive. You could take it to a specialist such as halfords to sort this out or if your good with electronics you can tune it down at home yourself
1) Refer to the manufacturer user guide to see if your alarm system has the ability to be adjusted.
2) Find the adjustment pot on the unit where the device box is installed.
3) Adjust the dial with a flat head screwdriver to tweak the shock sensors down. This is a trial and error procedure. You will have to find the correct spot for optimal performance and reliability.
