You can connect a tweeter to a car speaker if you want better high frequency range and overall treble. The most ideal situation would be to use a crossover to separate the speaker from the tweeter. However, you can use a capacitor and connect it directly to the speaker. This is more of a cost effective solution and gets the job done perfectly. Just remember to connect a capacitor onto the positive terminal of the tweeter to prevent it getting blown out. Since this will filter out the bass frequencies and allow it to perform better.
1) Examine the speaker you want to connect the tweeter to. You will need to find the spade terminals on the back of the driver.
2) Look at the two wires connected onto the tweeter. There will be two black negative and red positive.
3) What you need to do is connect the positive red wire to the + terminal on the speaker. Then connect the other remaining black negative wire to the - terminal on the speaker.
4) Use the equalizer on your headunit to adjust the treble levels to increase sound quality and sharpness to your preferred level.
