If you find that the buttons are not working or you are having problems with the joystick, along with disconnection problems, you will need to reset your Xbox one controller back to the original factory settings. Sometimes this is required because the firmware gets locked up and needs refreshing by a firmware restore.
1) Press the 'Guide' button on the gamepad.
2) Select 'Turn Off Controller'.
3) Release the back battery holder pack and remove both AA batteries for 30 seconds.
4) Reinsert the batteries and power on the controller allowing it to reconnect back to your console.
