The nokia 5800 is a brilliant at its price a music phone with the xpressmusic feature including the 3.5mm gold plated jack, free navigation and slick looking pen stylus plus with such many good review's on youtube and software apps that it makes you want to buy it!It has some brilliant specs such as the 3.2 megapixel camera and dual stereo speakers with amazing sound quality powered by an audio chip but some people seem when using the 5800,that there touchscreen has slowed down, stopped working or fully of bugs.
Below are some solutions and tricks that describe how you can fix it:
1)Using the touchscreen calibration can help improve finger nail or stylus response of touching or taping the outside lens of the screen. The 5800 is classed as a resistive screen, this is kind of old school tec because now nokia use capacitive instead like in the new x6.Resistive type of screen responds only to pressure finger nail or object but not human heat.Go to the menu option of on your mobile phone and select settings, then phone, touch input and finally touch screen calibration.Open up the calibration options and you will see four small circles in each of the 4 corners of the screen.Calibrating is easy just touch the circles with your pen accurately until it has been completed.Hopefully now you should see a significant improvement.
If you have got a screen protector make sure its clean and there is no dust in between the protector and the screen. If there is just gently get a lint free cloth and slowly wipe away excess dust and fingerprints.
Also check for any cracks in your lcd screen because sometimes you do not realize that your screen could be damaged or cracked. If its cracked then move on to step 3.
2)Update your nokia using software updater software suite that you can download officially from there website.Updating your current firmware is vital to get the best usability and performance from your device.Currently at the time of writing this the latest fw version is 52.0.007.Also try removing big memory home screen themes and widgets these can 100% slow down your screen response
3)If you have tried the first 2 tips above to make it work again and there was no success, then it is possible the problem which means your screen is faulty and needs a new replacements which involves disassemble your handset.Screens can't last for ever especially if its a tft screen at 3.2 and 16m colors, these screen have poor quality build issues. You can take it to a local mobile phone repair shop that can fix it for you at a small cost or you can save money by repairing it yourself. But when replacing the screen make sure you replace the existing screen with same exact original part and make sure it is the same size and resolution.Make sure you do not buy Chinese fakes on ebay, they will not last long.
