Whether you own a Sony PS2 fat or slimline model console, if you are having trouble trying to get your memory card to read game save data, you will need to attempt to clean the ps2 memory card slot. Inside behind the plastic flap there are metal pins. If these become dusty or dirty in any way, they will not provide proper electrical contact with the actual PCB on the memory card. You can actually clean this area without having to take apart your console.
1) Power off the console.
2) Remove the memory card from the port you can want to clean.
3) Get a can of compressed air and blast it directly into the flap.
4) Get a cotton swab and wipe the metal contacts inside clean.
