You can remove a speaker dust cap if you prefer to purchase a replacement and refit it on to make the woofer look brand new. The main role of placing a dust cap is to prevent dust and dirt getting into the main voice coil in the middle of the cone during operation. Sometimes they get pushed in or dented accidentally, so you may require removing the current one first. Once you have done that you can continue with the repair process.
1) You will need to get hold of a sharp crafted razor blade of some kind. This is because the glue used on most dust caps is high quality and is held down quiet well. If you pull it off, you will tear the surface of the subwoofer cone.
2) Get a lamp and place it above the speaker you want to repair. This is so you can see every detail of the cut you make around the dust cap preventing mistakes.
3) Place the point of the razor into the side of the dust cap. Now be very careful and cut around the dust cap edge following the circular shape all the way around. Perform this procedure very slowly don't rush it or you could risk the chances of denting the cone permanently.
4) Once the dust cap is now successfully removed, use a cotton bud to remove the excess of any glue remains left remaining on the woofer.
