If you notice that the sound production coming from your iphone 4s speaker is fuzzy, crackling or the volume is more quiet than normal, you may need to clean the speaker grill out. Since there could be dust and dirt blocking the speaker from producing the air out. Usually cleaning the speaker out fixes these kind of problems, however sometimes it is the speaker that will need replacing as it can be faulty or a defect from the factory.
1) Switch off your device. You don't want to be cleaning the speaker while music is coming out of it as that can damage it.
2) Get a cotton swap and push it into the air holes of the grill. This will take away the main dirt particles.
3) For a far better clean, get hold of your household vacuum cleaner and place the nozzle right next to the blocked speaker grill. The suction created will suck out any further dirt that is internal that the cotton swap couldn't reach.
