Sometimes the software operating system on your Garmin satellite navigation system can randomly become unresponsive and laggy. This can make it very frustrating to use on a daily basis because of how slow it runs. You can perform a soft reset to reset its loaded firmware. This will give your Garmin sat nav a fresh start and will make it run faster. Performing a soft reset on your Garmin sat nav will not remove any stored addresses, data or set factory settings. You should perform a soft reset every week to ensure that it doesn't unexpectedly lock up and develop loading problems in the future.
1) Press down the power button at the top to switch on the GPS device.
2) Look at the back of the device at the bottom area. You will see a small hole with a reset button placed inside it.
3) Get hold of a pointy object such as a pin or the end of a paper clip. Insert the pointed end into the hole to push down the reset button inwards.
4) The screen display will now appear blank and the GPS will turn itself off. The reset will now be successfully completed.
